Deep Research is essentially an agentic AI use case of ChatGPT that sends an agent (in this case behind the ChatGPT window) to go a do a bunch of research for you and comes back at some point later with a result.
The use cases are pretty wide and compelling (as long as they work as being shown here) and I think it also hints at an entirely new sort of internet search that should prob freak out Google quite a bit.
But really we have Deepseek to thank for this. Sam Altman had said he'd move up a ton of ship dates specifically in response to the Deepseek R1 results and here we are with two different OpenAI products shipping within a week.
It's all speeding up y'all.
