OpenAI just quietly updated its terms & conditions to remove the ban on military usage which feels… not great.
Obviously, there are lots of use cases for OpenAI’s generative AI tech but in a world that gets more and more automated you have to be slightly worried that these words that were in the definitions before aren’t anymore.
The Pentagon did recently talk about getting into Generative AI but there was an interview with an official there that said that was more about doing work around their office than it was about weapon systems but with drones being more and more AI driven it’s something to keep close tabs on.
