Dall-e 3 is an incredible tool but it’s stirring massive controversy in terms of how it uses and has access to popular IP like Batman and maybe even specific versions of Batman from famous comic artists.
Amaar Reshi’s tweet about how he was able to, in about five minutes, create a decent Batman comic page went viral because of how many people felt that they recognized Brian Bolland’s Joker in it.
The big questions here are: What is interpreting vs stealing? What does it mean when a computer tool can do this on a mass scale? How does that change the relationship to the specific artist and/or IP?
We’re entering into an entirely new dynamic around what art is and who can create it and with what and it’s only gonna get weirder.
