A video of a Skyrim mod where you can interact with an AI character went viral in part because of the AI but also because of how it highlighted how we sometimes treat our virtual characters.
Gaming has a long history of torturing certain artificial souls (anyone know where the ladder in the Sims’ pool is?) but now that they can talk a lot more like us, does this change anything?
It feels different to interact with these sorts of characters because the *feel* more alive but really, they’re not. OR ARE THEY?
As the next gen of this software comes on board, its gonna just get weirder and weirder.
